Abstract
Streetcars began running to Houston Heights on October 23, 1892, after the American Loan & Trust Company electrified the streetcar system of Houston. The Houston Heights line was one of the most popular and most heavily traveled in the City of Houston. It was the last line to be discontinued when the streetcar form of transportation was abandoned on April 27, 1940, to make way for the "more progressive system of buses."
