This recording and transcript form part of a collection of oral history interviews conducted by Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Rice University. This collection includes video recordings and transcripts of interviews with Houstonians who have made contributions to the LGBT community.
Jerry Atwood moved to Houston in 1972 and worked for nearly 40 years as an Engineer. A professional pianist, he started a successful music business with Rick Comeaux performing for men's society gigs, and at Ovations in Rice Village. He organized musical charity events such as the Red Beans and Rice Benefit for Omega House (a Houston AIDS hospice), the Christmas Songfest, benefitting the Montrose Center and has been active in LGBT advocacy for many years.
