dc.description This recording and transcript form part of a collection of oral history interviews conducted by Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality at Rice University. This collection includes video recordings and transcripts of interviews with Houstonians who have made contributions to the LGBT community.
dc.description.abstract Delma Cummings was born July 30, 1939 in Texas. She grew up in Aldine, Texas. She worked for 30 years for Southwestern Bell. Cummings was very active in the LGBT community, serving on the board of directors for Lesbians Over Age Fifty (LOAF), outreach worker with Seniors Preparing for Rainbow Years (SPRY) and Legacy Community Health Services offering mental health and support services for LGBT persons ag 60 or older. She passed away November 26, 2012 following a lengthy battle against cancer.
