Crossing Boundaries: A Diplomacy of Materials
Master of Architecture
This thesis investigates the boundary condition of an institution. Architectural boundaries are the material agencies for the division between the institutional space and the public. Embodied in them are the practices of power, and the mechanism of governing bodies in space. Boundaries create a political distinction, by physically separating space. The aim of this thesis was to study and understand how material textures, geometries and affects of these boundaries can shape different political relationships in institutional buildings.
