Lynda Crist and Mary Dix of the Jefferson Davis Association, Rice University
The Jefferson Davis Association was a non-profit corporation chartered in 1963, to collect, compile, edit, and publish a complete comprehensive edition of the papers and correspondence of Jefferson Davis.
Mary Dix and Lynda Crist, of Rice University’s Papers of Jefferson Davis Project. Dix, wearing a light-colored top and skirt, and Crist, in a white blouse and plaid skirt, are standing on either side of an oil painting of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States of America during the period of the American Civil War. The plaque on the painting is titled: ‘Jeff Davis’. The papers of Jefferson Davis are under the auspices of Rice University’s Department of History, and are housed in Fondren Library.
