Wet books drying after Fondren Library flood, Rice University
Date
1966-05-13Description
An image, taken from an upper balcony in Rice University’s Fondren Library, showing a large number of books in the process of being dried out on the first floor, following heavy rains which flooded the library basement, including the Rare Books Room. The books are arranged on the floor and on the tops of bookcases, some laid out flat and the majority sitting upright with their pages fanned out. Chairs and bookcases can be seen, along with two windows, providing a glimpse of the outside. Original resource is a color photograph.
