The preparation of a monoenergetic neutron beam with energy between 8-14 MeV

He3 neutron coincidences in the D(d;n)He3 reaction were used to obtain a monoenergetic neutron beam. The charged particles were detected using a very thin scintillation detector and the time of flight technique. The high cross section of the D(d,n)He3 reaction at forward angles was utilized: and the shape of the neutron beam was determined. The results were compared to those obtained width a solid state detector. This method can be used to obtain mono- energetic netron beams of 8 - 14 Mev, which are hard to obtain by other means.
