Isobaric analogue states in Fe__

Measurement of the excitation function of the reaction Mn55(p,n) Fe55 with protons of laboratory energy EP = 0.96 - 4.8 Mev. with resolution to 5 kev. and measurement of the elastic scattering yield of protons from Mn55 at several laboratory angles from 90° to 160° with Ep = 1.0 - 4.65 Mev. reveal resonances interpreted as states in the compound nucleus Fe56 which are isobaric analogues to the ground state and excited states of Mn56 . The single proton displacement coulomb energy of Mn55 + p consistent with this analysis is found to be 8.284 Mev. The fifteen well-established levels of Mn56 up to 1.49 Mev. are identified with the observed resonances.
