On the stability of linear periodic time-varying systems

Stability in a linear system having periodic time variable elements in the feedback path is determined using the Theorem of Floquot and the second method of Linpunov. Approximate conditions for asymptotic stability are derived from a finite determinant which is a truncated. approximation to an infinite set of equations. The stability problem is thus reduced to one of solving the characteristic equation of a linear system with constant coefficients and classical methods such as the Nyquist plot, Routh Hurwitz criterion and root—locus method cats be applied. Examples have been given shoving the approximate boundaries of stability.
