dc.description.abstract Attenuation of ultrasonic-hypersonic stress waves in LiF single crystals is analyzed. As a mechanism for attenuation the vibrating pinned-dislocation model of Koehler is treated; a resonant peak in attenuation vs frequency was sought. Some other mechanisms, including temperature dependence, are considered. Various causes of modulation of the exponential decay of the acoustic wave are discussed.
