"Terracotta tile depicting Jesse Madden hoisting the freshman class president Bill McVey into the Turnverein Club, Rice University." (1983) Rice University: https://hdl.handle.net/1911/88504.
Terracotta panels on Will Rice College and Hanszen College dining halls. Each panel depicts various aspects of student life in the 1920s. William McVey, a freshman in 1923 who received his degree in architecture in 1927, designed and made them with the help of his wife, Liza McVey, who was a ceramist. The ceramics were installed in 1957. In 1975, a fire destroyed the original commons in Hanszen. No damage was done to the tiles, but the panels were relocated.
