dc.description A large group of guests attending the Garden Party honoring the British Ambassador, Sir Auckland Geddes, K.C.B. on the occasion of his delivery of a lecture at the William M. Rice Institute on the subject of world peace. The guests are standing with an enlarged image of the Ambassador. They are standing in the Academic Quad, with the Physics Building, a portion of the cloisters, and the Administration Building in the background. There is an inset photograph along the middle of the upper margin showing a close-up of Ambassador Geddes, in conversation with several unidentified women. The guests are dressed in a formal attire, the men are wearing suits and ties and the women in dresses and hats. Written in the lower right-hand corner of the photograph: "Garden Party at Rice Institute May 13 in honor of the British Ambassador, Sir Auckland Geddes, K.C.B. Photo by Frank G. Allen. Houston, Texas. May 13, 1921". Original resource is a sepia photograph.
