Panoramic view of attending delegates standing in front of South Hall (now Will Rice College) for the formal opening of the William M. Rice Institute. Most of the delegates are wearing academic caps and gowns, with a few men wearing or holding top hats. The façade of the building, with its covered walkway, is visible behind the assembled group. Written in the lower left-hand corner: “#114, copyright 1912, F.J. Schlueter, Houston, Tex.” ; written in the upper right-hand corner: "Note - this spot is only on this print.
