Review of Science and the Arts event, men holding banner on Fondren Library reading "Beat Hell Out of Rice," Rice Institute
DateApril 14-15, 1950
During the William M. Rice Institute’s 12th Biennial Review of Science and the Arts event, a group of students, presumably from a rival institution, have hung a banner off the second floor of Fondren Library, above the arches leading to the library’s entrance. The banner reads: "Beat Hell Out of Rice", with the word ‘Censored’ written diagonally through the word ‘Hell’. Some of the students are gesturing and pumping their fists in the air. Original resource is a black and white photograph.
