Walter G. Hall inside the Woodson Research Center, Rice University
Walter G. Hall, a Texas banker and an important figure in Texas Democratic politics during a reception held in his honor at Woodson Research Center in Rice University’s Fondren Library. He is wearing a dark suit and tie, a name tag, and is seated on the edge of a desk covered with pamphlets, books, and newspapers. The occasion was his donation of his papers to the Woodson archives. Behind him can be seen additional tables and chairs, an electric typewriter, as well as bookshelves, both along the nearest wall and on the far side of the room. Walter Gardener Hall graduated from Rice in 1928. He went on to be a leading force in banking in Dickinson, Texas. He also was a Texas Democrat who helped the campaigns of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, President Lyndon B. Johnson, and Hubert Humphrey.
