Speakers at the Installation of the Beta of Texas Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at the Rice Institute

The American historian and legal scholar Henry Osborn Taylor, clergyman and General Secretary of the United Chapters of the Phi Beta Kappa Society Oscar Voorhees, and the Society’s representative from the University of Texas at Austin William J. Bartie, standing side by side on the lawn in front of William M. Rice Institute’s Administration Building. Taylor is wearing a black suit and is standing with his hands on his hips. Voorhees is wearing a black suit, with what appears to be a frock coat, his hands behind his back. Bartie is wearing a light-colored suit with a buttoned vest and is holding his hat in his left hand. The occasion was the establishment of a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at the Institute, with Taylor delivering the official address.
