Brown College's Fantasy Island flier, Rice University
This party occurred before Brown College became co-ed. The theme was influenced by the popular TV show "Fantasy Island."
A yellow and black flier for Brown College's Fantasy Island party, held at the Rice Memorial Center on Saturday, January 30 (the year 1982 is written in red ink on the upper right-hand corner). The flier features drawings of a female offering a Hawaiian lei, a masseuse with her customer, a chorus line of dancing girls, a couple gambling at a table with playing cards and poker chips, and a tattooed sailor smoking a corncob pipe. The flier advertises a live band, Landslide, and the cover charges, for advance tickets and at-the-door entry. A quote appears, ‘Ze party, ze party!’, which references and parodies a famous tagline from the television show ‘Fantasy Island’. Original resource is a color flier.
