Excavating for the Administration building with mule-drawn tools, Rice Institute
A view of the work on the foundation for the William M. Rice Institute’s Administration Building. Construction workers can be seen working in the wide, deep trenches, separated by large molded earthworks. Several workers are walking or riding behind teamed pairs of horses dragging equipment used to level and flatten the dirt. A wooden footbridge can be seen on the upper left-hand side, and large barnlike buildings are also visible against the background of trees. Original resource is a black and white photographic negative.
