"Excavation for Mechanical Lab and Power House, Rice Institute." (1910) Rice University: https://hdl.handle.net/1911/78506.
A view of the preliminary work on the foundation areas for both the William M. Rice Institute’s power plant and the Mechanical Laboratories building, showing the excavated trenches, the allotments for slabs, with distances marked by spikes in the ground. On the opposite side can be seen scaffolding for additional construction, as well as a partially visible house. The photograph appears to have been taken at ground level, looking down over the excavated area. Original resource is a black and white photographic negative.
