A view of the construction of an underground tunnel at the William M. Rice Institute. The scaffolding for construction of the Power House can be seen in the background. A number of construction workers can be seen at the far end of the trench housing the temporary wooden structures defining the sides of the future tunnel. Large mounds of earth can be seen between the two separate sites. Written on the bottom: “View of Tunnel, near Power House looking South" and "E.W. Irish Photo Co."
