Dr. Gilbert Cuthbertson in his office, Rice University
Dr. Gilbert Cuthbertson, also known as "Doc C," came to Rice in 1963 to teach Political Science. The following year he became a Resident Associate (RA) at Will Rice College. He is the longest serving RA at Rice University.

In the left foreground is a desk or table, covered with books, a wicker picnic basket, shopping bag, and an oil painting of President Dwight Eisenhower. Against the back wall is a large bookcase, and books can be seen placed on top of the bookcase, rising up to the ceiling. In the right foreground a framed painting of the Mexican military and political figure Santa Anna can partially be seen, along with a large book with the Virgin of Guadalupe on the cover.
