Sid Richardson College Powderpuff Team, Rice University
Powderpuff football began as an official intercollegiate sport at Rice in 1965, shortly after Brown College was created. It started as match play between the all-girls colleges of Jones and Brown, and grew as more residential colleges on campus became co-ed.
A group of eight Rice University students from Sid Richardson College’s Powderpuff female as they run off the field during a night game. They are wearing their uniforms of white jerseys, printed with ‘Sid Rich’, dark shorts and striped knee socks. The player in the lead has her hand lifted in the air to receive a ‘high five’ from the partially visible hand on the left-hand side of the image. Original resource is a black and white photograph.
