Rice University police officer coaching Powderpuff practice
A member of Rice University's Police Department, speaking with a group of seven players during a break in a touch football game. Five of the players are standing, with two crouched down, concentrating on what the officer is explaining to them. The touch-tags are hanging from their belts. The game is being played on Founders’ Court, with a number of cars visible in the background, along with a portion of Lovett Hall. Original resource is a black and white photograph.
Powderpuff football began as an official intercollegiate sport at Rice in 1965, shortly after Brown College was created. It started as match play between the all-girls colleges of Jones and Brown, and grew as more residential colleges on campus became co-ed.
