    Abstract
    This certificate forms part of the James A. Baker collection which was removed from the Rice Institute Business Manager's Records, dating from c. 1844-1940, and is believed to relate to land holdings of Rice Insitute.
    Description
    A 1903 copy of the original 1860 Texas General Land Office certificate from Texas Governor Sam Houston, to Samuel R. Smith. The certificate has number 254, volume 15. The filing receipt is on the lower left-hand corner of the certificate, signed by the County Clerk for Limestone county. Original resource is a certified document.
