Dr. Harold Rorschach joined the Rice faculty in 1952 after completing his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served as chairman of the Physics Department from 1966-73 and 1991-1993. From 1967-1979, he was the principal investigator in the NASA interdisciplinary laboratory at Rice, which conducted research involving a wide range of studies on solid materials. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1961, won Rice's George R. Brown teaching awards six times, and was a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
