    Abstract
In the spring of 1970, with the help of College Master Charles W. Philpott, Charles Becker and Ed Dickinson began Baker College’s yearly tradition, Baker Shakespeare.
    Description
A hand-drawn poster for the Baker College Shakespearian Festival, depicting William Shakespeare, with stars rising from behind him, pointing at the viewer, with the following text: “Bill Shakespeare wants you / … to grow a beard for the Shakespearian Festival / Sunday March 19th / it will be a gas!” The image is a parody of the famous WWI-era Uncle Sam recruitment poster. In the lower left hand corner is an illustration of a seal and ribbon with the words “Baker Cabinet Approved”, and in the lower right an illustration of a medallion showing the profile of a baker. Original resource is a black and white poster.
