Academic court, Rice Institute
The early stages of Academic Quad at William M. Rice Institute. The photograph shows a large open field beyond the Quad area, so the photograph can be presumed to have been taken from a vantage point on an upper story of the Administration Building. Long rectangular and semi-circular areas have been roughly marked out with hedges and stakes, with small shrubs and potted trees. A gardener can be seen on the far right-hand side, leaning over and examining the work in progress. Also visible is a deep but narrow trench running along the right-hand side of the area. Original resource is a black and white photograph.
