The Martel Center was originally intended to be a temporary structure, built at the behest of Houston art collectors Dominique and John de Menil, and served as both a museum and gallery. Original resource is a black and white photograph.
Commissioned by John and Dominique de Menil, the "Barn" was originally built as a temporary structure for the Rice Institute of the Arts.
