Lee's Owl Band, popular dance band started by Lee Chatham, Rice Institute
The photo was taken at the annual Valentine's Day Dance and appears in the 1926 Campanile. Band members from L to R are: Lee Chatham (director/trombone), Joe Jarrett (trumpet), Jack Gray (piano), Sam Bennett (sousaphone), J.I. Campbell (drums), Ed Austin (banjo), Tooker Abrahms (sax/clarinet), Wallace Franklin (sax/clarinet), and Waldo Boyles (sax).
