Black and white photograph of Rice Institute Owls football player John McCauley, headlining his achievement into the Rice Athletic Hall of Fame. Caption reads: The late JOHN McCAULEY (1936) for his leadership of Rice’s first SWC football champions in 1934 was named All-American on the New York Sun’s nationally publicized team. The other “Touchdown Twin” (along with Bill Wallace), “Big Jawn” was a fine outfielder in baseball. John McCauley came to Rice from Edinburg Junior College. He died in 1968, shortly after retiring from Hughes Tool Company in Midland, Texas.
