1970 Campaniles on display during Homecoming, Rice University
(1970)The 1970 Campanile yearbook is unique at Rice University, as the only year in which the yearbook was not published in a traditional book format. It is a box with multiple booklets inside and a 45rpm vinyl record. The first Homecoming and Reunion at Rice Institute occurred in 1919. -

(1970-04-11)A multi-week incident occurred in Spring 1970 after the Student Center Board invited Abbie Hoffman to speak at an event, but were forced by the administration to rescind the invitation. While this occurred, there were bomb threats, the Dean of Students office was set on fire, students protested, and students occupied Allen Center. -
