In the 1908 regatta, the Russara won two races: the 50- and 100-mile race, which earned the Rudder Cup. Jack O'Neil captained this ship to victory.

The Russara was one of many Houston Launch Club yachts which escorted the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Windom to the newly dredged turning basin of the Houston Ship Channel after the 1908 annual regatta.
