Mike Hogg, Texas legislator, businessman and Houstonian civic
leader, was the son of first native Texan governor, James Stephen Hogg. In 1917,as the
United States entered World War I, Mike Hogg enlisted in the 360th Infantry, 90th
Division. He served first as a lieutenant and later as a captain in the Army. This photo
was taken at one of the Army's sixteen training camps. Located in San Antonio, the camp
was named Camp Travis in honor of Alamo hero, William B. Travis after it was selected as
the site for the 90th (Texas-Oklahoma) Division of the Army. Mike Hogg annotated the
photo and mailed it to his sister, Ima Hogg, in a letter.
