Art historian, lecturer, and critic, Stella Hope Shurtleff was an
early active member of the Houston Art League. Her lectures for the League and the
Museum of Fine, Houston, first given in 1916, spanned three decades. The Houston Art
League was the predecessor of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
