Red Adair, born in Houston on June 18, 1915, became a world renowned oil field fighter. He and his team extinguished oil well fires on land and offshore around the world by capping the blaze. Adair was part of the team that put out the fires in Kuwait set by the retreating Iraqi troops after the Gulf War in 1991. He died on August 7, 2004 at the age of 89.
