Construction of One Shell Plaza
The construction of One Shell Plaza in downtown Houston, Texas. The caption that appeared with the photograph in the newspaper read "One of the lowest spots in Houston at the moment, a square block hole bounded by McKinney, Louisiana, Walker and Smith, forms a foreground here for some of the city's highest spots - its skyline. The excavation is for the One Shell Plaza Building and is 50 to 60 feet deep. The building will rise 700 feet above ground level when completed - the tallest in the South and tallest west of the Mississippi River. This shot was taken with a "fisheye" camera lens. Some of the buildings in the background are Gulf, Esperson, Bank of the Southwest, Southwest Tower and Tennessee Gas."
