dc.description This logbook contains entries of the daily routine and observations made by Midshipman John H. Gibbons during the 1882 cruise of the U.S.S. Jamestown from San Francisco, California to Newport, Rhode Island as well as detailed descriptions of the ship and its decks. Also contains a photo of the U.S.S. Jamestown. Pages at the back of this logbook which are completely blank were not captured and do not appear in this digital representation. (handwritten)

dc.digitization.specifications Images were captured using the TTI Better Light Super 8K2 digital scan-back system. Master Tiff images were scanned at 24-bit color, adobeRGB1998 color profile, at 600 dpi for graphically intense images and 400 dpi for text.
