    Abstract
It ms the purpose of this research to prepare a number of colloidal dispersions in organic solvents and to determine their stability. The discussion is divided into two parts, the first of which is concerned only with the methods of preparation. Some sols were found which did not fit into any of the existing arrangements» la order to account for them a new general system of classification is proposed. A systematic review and classification of all organosols described in the literature was made on the basis of this arrangement. The second part of this paper deals with the quantitative measurements of the stability. The effect of various liquids, both in the presence and absence of a precipitating electrolyte^ is Investigated! and a theory advanced to explain the results. Two methods of determining the stability were employed, the determination of the precipitating concentration, and the measurement of the zeta potential. Only a fair agreement is obtained between the two methods, the latter being the more fundamental measure of the stability.
