A Fast, Fully Implicit Backward Euler Solver for Dendritic Neurons

We develop and test a C++ implementation of a discretization of the Hodgkin-Huxley equations for dendritic neurons which employs backward Euler in time and finite differences in space. We make use of the sparse analytical Jacobian matrix to perform the nonlinear solve required at each time step via Newton's method.
