| Abstract: | C. Sidney Burrus, who earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Rice in 1958 and 1960 respectively, joins Rice's faculty after earning a doctorate from Stanford. Burrus is the Maxfield Oshman Professor Emeritus and is a research professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering. He helps found Rice’s digital signal processing group in 1968 and is instrumental in developing one of the world’s most prominent research programs in the field. He later serves as the dean of engineering. |
