Description: Black and white photograph of Rice Owls basketball player Bob Kinney, accompanied by text headlining his achievement and entry into the Rice Athletic Hall of Fame.Caption reads: “Bat ‘Em Bob” Kinney (class of 1942) was twice all-America and three times all-Southwest Conference in basketball. He scored more than 1,000 points for Rice and paced the Owls to two Southwest Conference team titles and one second-place finish in his three varsity years. A 6’7” center, he was noted for tip-ins and rebounding. Bob came to Rice from San Antonio (Jefferson) to play under Owl coach Buster Brannon. After graduation, he played pro basketball for the Fort Wayne (Indiana) Pistons and Boston Celtics. Then he went into business in Fort Wayne.
