The 1964 tour celebrated the Houston Symphony's Golden Anniversary.
Houston civic leaders and symphony supporters that participated in the tour included Ima
Hogg, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Wortham, General and Mrs. Maurice Hirsch and Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Dudley. Sir John Barbirolli was music conductor of the Houston Symphony at this time.
