Abstract: The 1964 tour celebrated the Houston Symphony's Golden Anniversary. Houston civic leaders and symphony supporters that participated in the tour included Ima Hogg, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Wortham, General and Mrs. Maurice Hirsch and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dudley. Sir John Barbirolli was music conductor of the Houston Symphony at this time. The diary is pasted into Ima Hogg's Houston Symphony's Golden Anniversary scrapbook.
Description: Brief,typewritten diary of Houston Symphony's Golden Anniversary Tour to Washington, D.C.and to New York City, where the symphony performed respectively in Constitution Hall and the Philharmonic Hall of the newly built Lincoln Center. The diary also gives an accounts of the various events and receptions, including a tour at the White House.
