Description:

A view of the Houston Medical Center looking north. The two large streets are Main (left) and Fannin (right). The original Hermann Hospital Building (c. 1925) is the small, very white building sitting at an angle in the top left part of the photo (about halfway between the center and the left edge). The bulkier building to its right is another part of Hermann Hospital. The big bright building (between Main and Fannin) almost in the top left corner is the Hermann Professional Building (built c. 1949). The U-shaped building in the left center is the Methodist Hospital. The tall building in the center of the photo is Medical Towers. The Tidelands Motel is in the center of the left edge of the picture. Note that there is no medical development west of Main Street at that time. The Medical Center has grown dramatically over the last 50 years. |
