dc.description.abstract	Cardona’s guide is intended as a practical companion for traveling by railroad. Along with descriptive passages covering historic landmarks in both the US and Mexico, detailed information is provided regarding the individual railroad companies, the stations they serve, their timetables, tickets, and routes, as well as the design and construction of the bridges and tunnels which lie along their tracks. As noted in the title the descriptive and tourist-oriented sections dealing with Chicago and New York are the most extensive, but Cardona’s trip also takes him through large areas of both countries, including Texas, New Mexico, Missouri, Ohio, Massachusetts, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, and Colorado, and in Mexico he visits the cities of Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Saltillo, Monterrey, and Durango, among others.
