                El <unclear reason="illegible">Honorable</unclear> Jefferson Davis<lb/>
            		Secretario de la guerra<lb/>
            		<salute>Señor,</salute><lb/></opener>
              <p>Tengo el honor de pedir por la misión el permiso de obtener o comprar, para el uso en la misión del <choice><abbr>Com</abbr><expan>Comisión de fronteras</expan></choice>, <unclear reason="illegible"/> cincuenta rifles <unclear reason="illegible"/>, y cinco mil cartuchos de municiones, de la artillería del Departamento del ejército.</p>
            		<p>	<unclear reason="illegible"/> de estos rifles <unclear reason="illegible"/> <unclear reason="illegible"/> pueden ser del nuevo modelo del rifle anterior modificado, para ser entregado en Nueva Cork el 24 <unclear reason="illegible"/>. El saldo <unclear reason="illegible"/> rifles para ser entregados en el arsenal o depósito en San Antonio.</p>
            		<p>	Desembarcamos de Nueva York el 25 de este mes, y el Coronel de Artillería nos informa que no hay mucho tiempo para prepara los veinte rifles + munición para su uso. </p>
